Carefree will consider four-year council terms

Carefree voters again will consider staggered, four-year terms for Town Council members and increasing the term of the mayor to four years from two.

The town clerk certified that 124 valid signatures were sufficient to place the two proposals on the ballot for the Nov. 4 election..

Proposition 488 would create staggered terms of four years instead of two beginning with the fall 2016 election. Proposition 489 would increase the term of mayor to four years from two with the fall 2016 election.
