Glendale mayor wants AG to investigate ‘poker’ game played by council members

Glendale Mayor Jerry Weiers is asking the Arizona Attorney General to investigate a meeting between City Council members and an attorney for the Arizona Coyotes last June, just days before the council approved a $225 million agreement with the team.

Weiers said the meeting violated the Arizona Open Meeting Law.

“I think it’s a clear violation,” he said Monday morning. “That meeting is wrong on so many levels. It’s like playing poker and showing your opponents all your cards.”
