Dig it: Shovels ready for Glendale casino on Thursday

Various officials say the Tohono O’odham Nation plans to break ground Thursday on its West Valley casino.

Glendale Councilman Ian Hugh and Peoria Mayor Bob Barrett also confirmed the ceremony, but a spokesman for the tribe was unavailable.

Hunt Construction Group and PENTA Building Group will build the project on land that was granted reservation status in July after years of legal and political battles.
