Water group hears ideas from Pinal farmers

Although some local farmers say a planned elimination of agricultural extinguishment credits set to begin in 2019 is acceptable, some would like to see other recommendations put in place and various related issues addressed.

The Pinal Local Water Group heard the list of ideas on Monday.

Dick Powell, a Casa Grande City Council member, businessman and member of the group, presented the farmers’ suggestions to water group.

Included in the suggestions was a request to add more farmers to the Pinal Active Management Area’s Groundwater Users Advisory Council.
