Owner: Llamas that were loose in Sun City ‘low maintenance,’ gentle

The 3-hour jaunt two llamas took Thursday through Sun City was as unpredictable as it was uncharacteristic of the animals, according to their owner.

“They’re pretty peaceful animals. They’re very low maintenance,” said Bub Bullis, who along with his wife owns a total of eight llamas the couple keep on their property in north Phoenix near 36th Avenue and Deer Valley Road.

During the day, Bullis said the animals wander around their corral, eat, sleep and lie around. On Friday, Laney and Kahkneeta – the pair that bolted from a Sun City adult living center – were mostly resting as Bullis talked about the animals.
