Utah lawmaker says Arizona should take mismanaged federal lands

Western states need to band to get the federal government to relinquish control of lands in Arizona and elsewhere, a Utah legislator told a group of Arizona lawmakers Wednesday morning.

At a joint meeting of the House Agriculture, Water & Lands and Federalism committees, Utah Republican Rep. Ken Ivory ran through a history lesson on state enabling acts and why legal experts have said Arizona and other Western states weren’t entitled to lands like Eastern states were.
