[GUEST COLUMN] Interference by government and utilities costs Arizona thousands of solar jobs

The Arizona Solar Energy Industries Association board of directors has mixed feelings regarding the voluntary ending of the “Yes on AZ Solar” initiative and the withdrawal of the two APS backed and anti-solar legislative referrals in the Arizona Senate.

AriSEIA supported the “Yes on AZ Solar” initiative. We felt it was a necessary step to protect ratepayers’ ability to make free market energy choices and provide much needed stability to counteract years of attempts by Arizona’s utilities to sow the seeds of fear, uncertainty, and doubt in the minds of our members’ employees and customers with regard to the future of solar in this state. We do not apologize for wanting Arizona solar businesses to thrive in an open and competitive market.
