Marijuana businesses challenge real estate thinking; Rose Law Group Partner Ryan Hurley interviewed by ‘Business Journal’

Steve White had a tough time opening his first medical marijuana dispensary.

That was in Tempe in May 2013, three years after voters approved the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act.

“At the time, the program had just gotten started and landlords were skeptical and generally unwilling to rent to people,” said White, CEO of Harvest Inc.

The commercial real estate industry has seen more vacant industrial buildings being taken by medical marijuana dispensaries.
