2016: The year the Phoenix economy began to pivot

The Arizona recession bottomed out and the road to recovery began in October 2010, more than one year after economists declared The Great Recession over.

Arizona’s recovery and trajectory into positive ground didn’t begin until March 2016 when the workforce hit a record 2.7 million. This month, despite miserly job gains over 2015, Arizona’s workforce topped 3 million for the first time in history.
