king-2 providedIn preparation for the event, Pete King Construction preps their warehouse, donates all of the wrapping paper to be used throughout the evening and uses their equipment and vehicles to pick up items from donors. Employees were on site until 1 a.m. bringing in gifts and prepping the space for next-day deliveries, and were readily available both days to translate for Spanish speaking families.

“When we help deliver gifts to families, getting so the pure joy on their faces is so rewarding,” said Jeff King, president of Pete King Construction. “We understand that holidays can be a very trying time for families with children battling cancer, and working with the Team Jaydie allows us to play a small role in alleviating the worry and stress that those families face.”

King recalled a memorable event of the evening when a family arrived via bus to pick up their gifts. “The family thought the items would fit into a small bag because they didn’t realize what the donors would be providing for them. We gave them a ride home because it was clear that it would be so much more convenient.”

An estimated 3000 individuals have been impacted over the years. Several other Valley construction companies and community groups contributed to the success of the event by volunteering and making monetary donations.

About The Jaydie Lynn King Foundation

The Jaydie Lynn King Foundation is a nonprofit organization founded by Jaydie, a little girl with inoperable Stem Cell Glioma, and her parents. The organization is dedicated to creating opportunities that allow individuals and organizations to be involved with and fund programs that provide comfort, hope and emotional assistance to children who suffer from tumors, cancer and other blood disorders. Since Jaydie’s passing, the foundation has been solely committed to raising funds and hope for children through organized events such as blanket drives, movie premiers, golf tournaments, races, Summer camps and the annual adopt-a-family event. In an effort to fund the Jaydie Lynn King Neuro-oncology Program at PCH, all proceeds are donated to the establishment, which has received $1 million through the foundation.
