Casa Grande hires new deputy city manager

A new deputy city manager has been hired to help oversee the city’s operations.

After a long search process, Steven Weaver was selected to fill the position vacated by City Manager Larry Rains last year. Rains assumed the role of city manager after Jim Thompson, the former city manager, retired in August.

Since then, Rains has been operating without a deputy city manager. Thompson was hired as the city manager of Scottsdale in December.

Weaver returns to Arizona, where he grew up, after working as city administrator of Riverton, Wyoming, for the last five years. His experience in preparing budgets, managing personnel and policy analysis was appealing to Rains.
