Bill reaches compromise on disability-lawsuit abuse in Arizona

After two months, lawmakers appear to have reached a compromise regarding how to combat ‘unscrupulous attorneys’ who exploit state-accessibility law

Senate Bill 1406 would give businesses 30 days to correct compliance issues related to parking lots and signage

It also would allow courts to fine unethical lawyers and plaintiffs, funneling some of that money into ongoing education efforts

A committee passed the bill Wednesday, but it still needs full House and Senate approval to advance

Lawmakers ensnared in a months-long battle over how to combat “unscrupulous attorneys” who exploit state-accessibility law finally have reached a compromise.
