Glendale part of group bidding on World Cup

A joint bid by the United States, Canada and Mexico to host the 2026 World Cup to North America has added Glendale to a list of possible host cities for one or more games.

“I am writing to you following a major announcement made July 6 concerning the official launch of the Bid Campaign to stage the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico,” said Sunil Gulati, chairman of the 2026 United Bid Committee in a letter to Mayor Jerry Weiers dated July 10, 2017.
