Road work on Riggs aims for growth, improved commutes

QUEEN CREEK — Construction will soon commence on a road project that is intended to help commuters while paving the way for more growth in the Queen Creek area just outside San Tan Valley.

Beginning Monday, the Maricopa County Department of Transportation will be working on road widening and traffic improvement on Riggs Road from Ellsworth Road to Meridian Road. This is part of a partnership between the towns of Gilbert and Queen Creek that focuses on a seven-mile stretch by adding travel and turn lanes, drainage modification and traffic safety upgrades.

This is a five-part project, with the stretch from Hawes Road to Ellsworth already completed and Recker Road to Power Road schedule for completion soon.
