Closing of local marijuana dispensary may open new cultivating options

The sudden closure of a local marijuana dispensary has many Maricopa residents wondering what happens next.

On Oct. 1, Ponderosa Releaf sent an email to its customers stating that the business, located at 49237 W. Papago Road, would be temporarily closed as of Oct. 2.

“At this point in time, we are unsure of the specific duration of this interruption,” it stated.

Although the business claimed to be temporarily closed, many customers have reason to believe it is closed permanently — including Erica Campbell, who said she has heard from other patients that the dispensary will not reopen.

Campbell has been a patient there for about a year, and said she is frustrated with the way Ponderosa handled the situation.
