Could EPA regional headquarters move from San Francisco to Phoenix?

Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt discussed moving the agency’s regional headquarters from San Francisco to Phoenix during a meeting with metro Phoenix officials in May.

GPEC President and CEO Chris Camacho said the Phoenix-area team pitched the idea.

Meeting notes distributed by GPEC to attendees of the meeting state:

“In order to mitigate the $30 million annual lease cost to the agency, Administrator Pruitt stated the intention of moving EPA’s region 9 headquarters from San Francisco to Greater Phoenix, following due diligence of cost feasibility.”
