Sloan looks to bring business background to Arizona Corporation Commission, joins Glassman, Olson, Sears in 2018 race

Eric Sloan — CEO of Sloan Lyons Public Affairs in Phoenix — is getting into next year’s Arizona Corporation Commission race.

The ACC regulates utilities such as Arizona Public Service Co. as well as investment firms and brokerages.

Sloan is running as a Republican and joins a potential GOP primary field that includes Rodney Glassman — an attorney with heavy hitting law firm Beus Gilbert PLLC and former Tucson City Councilman — State Rep. Brenda Barton, R-Payson, and Justin Olson.

Olson — a former state lawmaker and analyst for the Arizona Tax Research Association — was appointed to the ACC last month by Gov. Doug Ducey after a Republican commissioner Doug Little stepped down to take post with the U.S. Department of Energy in the Trump administration.
