Pinal candidate called a ‘coward’ for changing his campaign to seek Franks’ seat instead of CD1

By Kevin Reagan | Casa Grande Dispatch

Kevin Cavanaugh appears to have stopped running for Arizona’s 1st Congressional District seat to seek office in another district.

The Republican candidate’s Website now states he is seeking to join the special election in Arizona’s 8th Congressional District. That seat was left open after U.S. Rep. Trent Franks, R-Glendale, resigned from Congress after sexual harassment allegations surfaced.

Many Republicans have jumped into the race to replace Franks in the GOP-leaning district, and Cavanaugh seems to now be one of them.

His website also includes a link to an online petition that would allow Cavanaugh to make it on the ballot for the CD8 primary election, which will be held next month. The candidate has a Website with the Web address ”KC4AZ8.com.”
