Arizona’s solar industry is growing quickly. It is one of the sunniest states and it is experiencing one of the largest increases in solar installations in the nation.
Facts on Arizona’s Solar Industry
Since the end of 2009, cumulative installed solar photovoltaic capacity in Arizona has increased by 397 MW. This is the 3rd largest increase in the country over that time period.
Arizona now has 448 MW of installed solar capacity- enough to power 57,491 homes and rank the state 3rd in the U.S. See more state solar rankings.
There are more than 265 solar companies operating in Arizona, including 26 solar manufacturing locations. Solar companies in Arizona offer services ranging from solar photovoltaic installation and maintenance to the development and financing of large-scale solar projects.
Arizona’s 2,118 solar photovoltaic installations in the first quarter of 2012 were the 2nd most in the country, and the 61.6 MW of solar photovoltaic capacity added over that time period was enough to rank the state 3rd in the U.S.
$637 million was spent on solar photovoltaic installations in Arizona in 2011- nearly twice as much as was spent in 2010.
