Two Valley communities have been rated in the top 100 on Money magazine’s best small cities list.

The East Valley suburbs of Gilbert and Chandler came in at Nos. 33 and 50, respectively.

“We’ve got a great, vibrant downtown community when we’re at less than two percent vacancy rate in the downtown area which is almost unheard of across the country,” said Terri Kimble, Chandler Chamber of Commerce President.

Money called Chandler a cultural hotspot and Kimble added that the city has a good population of creative0, high-tech citizens.

Gilbert was recognized because of its affordable homes, safe streets and a commitment to education.

Carmel, Ind. topped the list.
