A new approach to the scrutiny of the proposed Mountain Shadows revitalization project may be emerging.

Paradise Valley Town Council, at an Aug. 27 special meeting, discussed its perception of how its planning advisory board is following the guidelines set forth by a June 28 Statement of Direction.

Known within Town Hall as an SOD, the official document dictates the scope of scrutiny members of the planning commission may evaluate of the proposed project.

The SOD for the proposed revitalization of the Mountain Shadows property covers myriad topics including building heights, floor-area measurements to be used, improvements along 56th Street, open space elements and setback requirements.

The council approved the direction with a 6-0 vote with Vice Mayor Michael Collins absent.

The Paradise Valley Planning Commission and town council are hosting a joint work session 5 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29 at Town Hall, 6401 E. Lincoln Drive.

The Paradise Valley Planning Commission is set to continue its public hearing on the proposed revamp project at its Sept. 18 meeting.
