An individual opposed to development at Arizona Snowbowl is currently attempting to block construction of a water pipeline by camping in a tree near contractors on Lowell Observatory property.

The man, James Kennedy, has installed a wooden platform with tarps and supplies, tethered to trees and construction equipment via long ropes. The construction equipment is currently not working in that area.

Disconnecting the ropes will mean he likely falls, say two men speaking on his behalf.

The encampment is an attempt to end snowmaking plans, press the city of Flagstaff to cancel its contract to sell water, get more studies conducted on the safety of reclaimed water, and persuade President Obama to intervene in an area held sacred by tribes.
