(SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.) –As if a day of The Hamptons vs. Bel Air and Harvard University vs. Work To Ride (a polo sensation featured on 60 Minutes wasn’t enough). And the top polo players in America too.
Now, the Scottsdale Polo Championships: Horses & Horsepower has added a third, morning match to its lineup for the Saturday, October 20th event at WestWorld of Scottsdale.
Gates will now open at 10 a.m. and also feature an 11 a.m. “USA vs. Colombia” match featuring high powered American and Colombian born players from the Arizona Polo Club. Harvard and Work To Ride will play at 1 p.m. with the featured Hamptons and Bel Air match at 3 p.m. Both afternoon matches will be vying for the Molina Cup, designed by Molina Fine Jewelers.
The Valley’s premier caterer, M Catering of Michael’s, will offer a tasty “Polo Brunch” during the first match of the day.
Tickets in all price ranges are now on sale at www.thepoloparty.com.
Besides the partying and polo matches throughout the day plenty of horsepower will also be on display. The event serves as a sneak preview event for both the Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction in January and the Scottsdale Arabian Horse Show in February.
Featured Barrett-Jackson cars will be on site as well other exotic cars courtesy of Scottsdale Ferrari, Maserati, Lotus & Fisker as well as the local Ferrari and Lamborghini clubs.
“This event is quickly capturing the attention of the polo world and has terrific potential to be the next great Valley special event,” said Diego Florez, head of the Arizona Polo Club. “But we also want to showcase the ability of interested polo players to get involved locally and that is what this additional match involving our members will provide,” he said.
On Tuesday, September 4th polo fans are invited to a happy hour with GQ Model and U.S. Polo Star Nic Roldan inside Prado Restaurant from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the luxurious Montelucia Spa and Resort. Fans can enjoy the no host bar while they mingle with Roldan and others in the polo community at this special meet and greet event.
