The Arizona Republic
Reform-minded voters already owe a debt of gratitude to Steve Chucri, Republican candidate for the Maricopa County Board of Supervisors in District 2.
The former top aide to then-Congressman Matt Salmon, Chucri knocked off Lester Pearce, a longtime political presence in the East Valley, in their primary.
If former Senate President Russell Pearce’s primary-election loss to businessman Bob Worsley constituted a huge shake-up in East Valley conservative politics, Chucri’s defeat of Lester Pearce, Russell’s brother, firmly accented that change.
On top of that, Chucri is running to replace Don Stapley, a presence among the county supervisors for 16 years. If any candidate in this year’s local elections seems to deliver an aura of “change,” it would be Chucri.
It is change for the good. The Arizona Republic recommends Steve Chucri in the race for the county board of supervisors in District 2.
