Sometime in October Paradise Valley Town Council will identify 18 candidates to potentially fill the vacant seat left on the dais by congressional hopeful Vernon Parker.
Mr. Parker tendered his recognition at the Aug. 29 Paradise Valley Town Council meeting.
Each member of council will choose three candidates sometime in October with an interview process leading up to a January appointment, according to the Sept. 13 work session discussion.
Mr. Parker, a former mayor of the town, was re-elected to Paradise Valley Town Council this past March to a four-year term; however, the person appointed to the vacant spot will serve until the next municipal election, which is August 2014, according to Jim Bacon, Paradise Valley town manager.
The person appointed will only serve two of Mr. Parker’s four-year term, state statute stipulates.
