Peoria Councilman Rivero organizes Hispanic Heritage event with former Mexico President Vicente Fox in Peoria

Peoria Councilmember Tony Rivero and the City of Peoria will host a historic event Sept. 13 at Arizona Broadway Theatre. Highlighting the critical importance of strengthening Arizona – Mexico economic ties, Vicente Fox, former President of Mexico, will be present to lead an economic discussion with political, business, and community leaders. The event will kick off Hispanic Heritage Month for Peoria, as it will be the precursor to the Fiesta Peoria 2012 festival that will take place Sept. 15 in Old Town Peoria at Osuna Park.

This is just an example of how serious Rivero is about his job as a city councilmember. He agreed to meet for coffee and an interview Monday morning. At that time, he talked about Fox and about his experience so far in the 18-plus months he has been on council.

At age 30, Rivero is in the enviable position of learning from those who have been walking in similar shoes for more than four, even 12 years. And, there was one thing that really surprised Rivero.
