After one-and-a-half-years of bankruptcy proceedings, the future of Phoenix’s troubled Arizona Biltmore Resort & Spa — and its management contract with Hilton Worldwide Inc. — may lie in the hands of the Singapore government.
If Singapore’s bid is accepted this fall, the transaction will mark the fourth time the iconic Phoenix resort’s ownership structure has changed in the past 12 years, but it could be the first changeover without Hilton as the hotel manager.
Although that kind of turnover for such a landmark property may seem unusually high, the Biltmore brand stands alone regardless of the management company, said Scott Dunn, a spokesman for the Greater Phoenix Convention & Visitors Bureau.
