Casa Grande Dispatch
[EDITORIAL] The Pinal County Board of Supervisors has approved an agreement that eventually will allow widening of Maricopa-Casa Grande Highway to six lanes. This involves purchasing 22.3 acres of easement from the Ak-Chin Indian Community because the roadway crosses the reservation.
The agreement is a win-win because it will lead to eventual enhancement of transportation in western Pinal and also will benefit Ak-Chin as the community continues to develop its entertainment complex.
Such an agreement is needed with the Gila River Indian Community to allow widening of Interstate 10 between Casa Grande and the Valley, a widely sought goal. Obviously, such an agreement must have benefits for both parties.
