Bah humbug: Mohave County stiffs governor’s Christmas event

The office of Arizona Governor Jan Brewer expressed tidings of disappointment Tuesday after learning that Mohave County officially declined participation in the state’s Capitol Christmas Celebration.

The measure was secured Monday with a no-action motion on the Christmas agenda item. Two of the three county supervisors showed disinterest in the project, which didn’t even make it to the table for discussion.

Tuesday, Matthew Benson, director of communications for Brewer, said Mohave County was the only one of Arizona’s 15 counties to decline. The counties of Pima and Yuma haven’t yet confirmed, but neither had indicated they wouldn’t participate.
