Anyone with their eyes open knows Scottsdale wins this competition. Tempe is the next best with all it offers, while Phoenix is trying, but it’s always been an uphill urban battle.
Downtown Chandler, hands down. 20-plus great restaurants, a growing mix of cool shops and a friendly vibe. If you haven’t seen it in the last three years, you don’t know what you are missing.
Fountain Hills is one of the most exciting downtown areas in the region. We have great restaurants, a beautiful park and fountain, and wonderful shopping, all within a two-mile walking area.
Old downtown Gilbert is way cool and getting better.
I love Phoenix and Scottsdale, but if you like a downtown experience you have got to check out Flagstaff. Stay downtown in one of the historic hotels and walk everywhere to experience some of the best non-chain restaurants.
