Election Roundup: Scottsdale City Council hopefuls clash on city’s growth

Candidates for Scottsdale City Council locked horns on issues involving growth and development during a Scottsdale Republic forum this week.

Vying for three seats on the council are incumbent Suzanne Klapp, Virginia Korte, Eric Luoma, Guy Phillips, Joanne “Copper” Phillips and Chris Schaffner. The runoff election is Nov.6.

During Thursday’s forum, candidates fielded questions from Scottsdale Community Editor Chris Coppola and an audience of residents at Scottsdale’s Via Linda Senior Center.

One of the more divisive topics centered on the future of denser and taller buildings in Scottsdale.
