Former Representative Konopnicki gravely ill

Information from the Yellow Sheet Report

Bill Konopnicki

Former lawmaker Bill Konopnicki’s health has taken a turn for the worse, his family says. His non-alcoholic cirrhosis of the liver has led to a host of other health problems that have left him too ill to qualify for a transplant.

He is scheduled to be released tomorrow from the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale and transported back to Safford, where he will receive round-the-clock in-home care from a local hospice. “He’s really gotten worse the last 10 days,” said friend and former lawmaker Clancy Jayne said. “Outside of a miracle, I don’t see any way for this to turn around.”
