Getting off the ground: Eloy Business Center’s first full-time new business goes on the air

It was as good a sendoff party as the Eloy Business Center’s director could have gotten as the facility’s first full-time business took up residence Monday, Sept. 24.

The “party” was also for the city’s first online radio station, which went live last week.

The fledgling online station, tag named “The Party” on www.live365.com, held its grand opening and ribbon cutting on Sept. 24 at the Eloy Business Center, 112 E. Third St.

Eloy resident and station owner Andrew Rodriguez seems to have been training all of his life for this moment. Since the fourth grade, he had been learning his way around the deejaying turntable under the tutelage of Jose Morales. By junior high, he was already going solo and was named deejay of the year in the Southwest (in Spanish). In high school, he started interning at radio stations in the Phoenix area and branched off into music management and promotion.

For the past two years, he’s planned meticulously for a radio station of his own for his hometown, which has at last come to fruition. With about 11 people so far under his employ, the 24/7 radio station will have three deejays and four radio show hosts.
