“The whole thing” opens Thursday in Maricopa, just north of Harrah’s Ak-Chin Casino.
The whole thing — movie theater, bowling center, restaurants, 21-and-older lounge, laser tag, arcade, reports The Arizona Republic and Phoenix Business Journal is the UltraStar Multi-tainment Center.
When UltraStar, a California-based digital-theater company, sat down with Ak-Chin Indian Community officials in Maricopa to plan a theater, UltraStar Vice President and General Manager Adam Saks said discussions quickly expanded beyond theaters.
The consensus, said Saks: “We want the whole thing” in an entertainment destination.
Thursday, an all-day marathon at the center for fans of “Twilight” movies will be capped at 10 p.m. by the new “Twilight: Breaking Dawn” in all theaters. Among fans who enter a Facebook contest, 20 will meet “Twilight” star Booboo Stewart at a reception tonight.
The center is envisioned as a destination for meetings, dining and fun the Maricopa area has lacked. Rooms can be booked for private parties in the bowling center, theaters and other areas.
All 200 employees are trained to assist guests of all ages.
