RLG’s Ryan Hurley tells ‘Business Journal’ dispensary not what you might expect

Ryan Hurley, director of the medical marijuana department at Phoenix-based Rose Law Group, says he has been working with Arizona Organix owner Ben Myer for the past two years to open a cultivation facility.

Arizona Organix in Glendale is the first dispensary to be approved by the Arizona Department of Health Services to open for business. It passed its site inspection Nov. 15.

“They’ve been working real hard at this and they’re excited,” Hurley told Phoenix Business Journal.  “It’s a very nice looking, professional building with very secure bulletproof glass. It’s not what most people would expect,”

Voters passed the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act in 2010 to legalize medical marijuana. As part of the law, medical marijuana cardholders are allowed to grow their own medicinal cannabis if they don’t live within 25 miles of a dispensary.

But most of the Valley is within 25 miles of this new dispensary, said ADHS director Will Humble.

With the new dispensary near downtown Glendale, it should make Glendale Glitters a whole lot more interesting this year.
