Birds flying south–to Glendale?

The Arizona Cardinals training camp deal with Northern Arizona University expired this year, and the team is looking other options for camp, including Glendale, reports the Phoenix Business Journal.

In Glendale, the team could use University of Phoenix domed stadium where it plays its games for indoor practices, use existing sports fields outside the stadium and work with the city of Glendale on development of other training camp facilities.

The Glendale City Council voted Tuesday to move forward with a bid for the

Cardinals’ camp.

Cardinals training camp would draw fans to Glendale’s Westgate shopping area, which the West Valley city has hinged its economic development future on with spending on the nearby Jobing.com Arena and Camelback Ranch spring training ballpark.
