First Solar tabbed as military-friendly employer

First Solar Inc. has brought in a lot of tech talent, but now it is being recognized for welcoming military veterans into its worker ranks.

The Tempe-based solar panel manufacturer (Nasdaq:FSLR) was named a military-friendly employer by G.I. Jobs magazine. The recognition was based on criteria that included recruiting efforts as well as the percentage of new hires with military backgrounds.

About 8 percent of First Solar’s total workforce of 1,700 have military backgrounds. The former military group in its contractor base is higher.
