Goodyear has ended its four-year legal fight against two former employees, agreeing to pay Terri Woodmansee $595,000 and John Rowan, $100,000 )in a wrongful termination case.

The Arizona Republic reports Woodmansee and Rowan alleged they were fired in retaliation for their comments about the city’s handling of an unsolved fatal hit-and-run of 18-year-old Jared Pendleton.

There have been accusations Goodyear Officer Brad Hardin fatally struck the Westview High School senior, and the police department covered it up.

A Goodyear sergeant accused of hindering the case was disciplined with an unpaid eight-hour suspension.

Woodmansee’s case was in the U.S. Ninth District Court of Appeals after Goodyear appealed the case, and Rowan’s case was in the early stages in U.S. District Court.

A lawsuit filed by Pendleton’s mother is pending in federal court.
