Greenberg Traurig law firm hit with $200 million discrimination lawsuit

The Phoenix Business Journal reports  a Philadelphia attorney has filed a $200 million lawsuit against the Greenberg Traurig law firm claiming gender and pay discrimination as well as her wrongful termination from the firm, which has a substantial Phoenix office.

Francine Friedman Griesing filed the federal lawsuit in U.S. District Court in New York and is seeking class action status for her claims that Greenberg discriminates against female attorneys.

The international law firm, which has 53 attorneys in Phoenix and 1,750 total, disputes Griesing’s lawsuit saying it lacks merit. Griesing was a Greenberg partner from 2007 until 2010, when she claims she was wrongfully pushed out.

Griesing’s lawsuit claims she and other female lawyers were hired at lower pay and classification levels than male counterparts and that promotions and credit for revenue favor men in the firm.
