Arizona Organix, the first medical marijuana dispensary to begin selling marijuana in Arizona, opened its doors today to a crowd of eager medical marijuana cardholders waiting outside.
Ryan Hurley, the attorney representing the dispensary, walked through the crowd answering any questions patients had. Hurley has been one the main advocates for hopeful dispensary owners since the Arizona Medical Marijuana Act was narrowly passed by voters in 2010.
Lawsuits led by Attorney General Tom Horne, Maricopa County Attorney Bill Montgomery and Gov. Jan Brewer had delayed the full implementation of the program, and the dispensary portion of the system in particular. But courts have consistently upheld the voter-approved act.
