Many municipal workers are making less than their counterparts in other communities, and the disparity could cost about $7.7million to remedy, an independent employee-pay study commissioned by the Gilbert Town Council reveals.
The town’s benefit packages, however, were shown to be more competitive.
Town officials plan to analyze the data in greater detail over the next few months, and the study goes before the council this week for possible discussion and a formal vote to accept the findings.
The goal is to bring recommendations based on the study to the council by March 7, 2013.
