The Cave Creek Town Council is starting to talk about a possible annexation into the town’s boundaries of a large county island adjacent to the Walmart at Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road.
Town Engineer Wayne Anderson said the annexation would bring at least 20 acres and as much as 40 acres into the town’s limits.
The annexation south of Olesen Road came out of an intergovernmental agreement between the town and the county during the development of the nearby Walmart.
It is one of two annexation agreements made during the development of the Walmart about three years ago.
