Governor Jan Brewer today named Pat Quinn the new Director of the Arizona Residential Utility Consumer Office (RUCO). RUCO was established to represent the interests of residential utility customers whenever a rate-related issue involving a public service utility is brought before the Arizona Corporation Commission.
“With more than three decades worth of corporate experience in the utility industry, a strong background in finance and a keen eye for smart public policy, Pat is a natural fit for this important role,” said Governor Brewer. “His impressive background – coupled with the strong leadership he has demonstrated throughout his career – will be of tremendous value to RUCO and the State of Arizona.”
Mr. Quinn has been President of Quinn and Associates since 2008, a role in which he provided business and political advice to various individuals and organizations. Earlier, he spent a long and distinguished career with Qwest, during which he served as: President of Qwest Arizona (2002-2008); Vice President of Corporate Policy and Law (2000-2002); Director of Regional Regulatory Affairs (1990-2000); and Finance Director (1977-1990).
As President of Qwest Arizona, Mr. Quinn was responsible for overseeing all aspects of Qwest’s operations in the State of Arizona, including development and management of budgets, marketing, advertising and representation of the company on a local, state and federal level.
Mr. Quinn is a veteran who served in the United States Navy (1969-1973). He has been involved in a host of Arizona organizations, including: Greater Phoenix Leadership; the Homebuilders Association of Central Arizona; Arizona Town Hall, Teen AA and Phoenix Community Alliance. He earned his Master of Business Administration (1977) and bachelor’s degree in mathematics (1976) from the University of South Dakota.
Mr. Quinn’s appointment is effective January 7, 2013; he replaces outgoing RUCO Director Jodi Jerich.
Ms. Jerich joined the Brewer administration as Director of RUCO in February 2009.
“I want to thank Jodi for her devoted public service to my administration and the citizens of Arizona,” said Governor Brewer. “I’m grateful for her leadership and professionalism, and I know she has served the people well.”
