Flagstaff city attorney Rosales resigns

Rosemary Rosales

Flagstaff’s loss is Chandler’s gain.

City Attorney Rosemary Rosales will leave Flagstaff next month for a new position with the city of Chandler.

The city’s top lawyer — hired in 2010 — sent an email to the Flagstaff City Council late Monday afternoon explaining her decision to take a position in the Valley.

Rosales denied that changes in the political make-up of the Council last year played any role in her decision. Like the city manager, the city attorney is hired directly by the Council.

The NAU graduate said on Tuesday afternoon she has a large number of family members living in the Valley and wants to live closer to them.
