Glendale City Council approves new home development

realestateGlendale residents can expect to see a new upscale housing development in the area in the near future. Council recently approved the development of a plat of land designed for a housing development. The developer, Malouf Homes, will be breaking ground in 2013.

During a regular city council meeting Jan. 8, a request was made by Malouf Homes for city council to approve a final plat for Northern Place. The plat will be a planned residential development, located at the southeast corner of 87th and Northern avenues.

During his presentation, Planning Director Jon Froke discussed plans for the land. Northern Place will feature a 27-lot single-family subdivision on 11.2 acres with a density of 2.4 dwelling units per acre. The lot sizes will vary from 10,000 square feet to 11,461 square feet with an average lot size of 10,127 square feet. The proposed minimum lot width would be 80 feet, and the minimum lot depth would be 125 feet.
