As Larry Woodside filled his motorcycle, he said he doesn’t understand why fuel prices in the Gila Valley are higher than other parts of the state.
“Towns like Springerville, Showlow and Snowflake are almost as far from the city (Phoenix) as we are, and their prices are not nearly as outrageous,” Woodside said, discounting the argument that higher local costs are due to being in a rural area.
According to motortrend.com, fuel prices in the Gila Valley are running about 10 cents higher than the state average.
Gasbuddy.com reports the average price of gas in Arizona at $3.15 as of Jan. 28. Nationally, the average cost of a gallon of regular fuel is $3.31.
That national average is up 11.4 cents per gallon from last month, but down 6.7 cents from the same time last year.
ArizonaGasPrices. com reports the lowest fuel costs are found in Bullhead City, in the northwestern part of the state on the Nevada border, at $2,86 per gallon. The highest cost was reported in Flagstaff, at $3.99 for a gallon of regular.
