Mortenson Construction and Hunt Construction have been selected as the two finalists for the lead construction contract for the new Minnesota Vikings stadium.
That’s not a big surprise by any means. I’ve long considered those firms to be the favorites to land the job.
Scottsdale-based Hunt Construction is the nation’s leading sports builder. It has led the construction of a dozen NFL stadiums across the country, including the acclaimed Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
Golden Valley, Minn.-based Mortenson is the Twin Cities’ largest contractor and has built all of the top local sports facilities, including Target Field, TCF Bank Stadium, Xcel Energy Center and Target Center. It also has worked closely with the Vikings on preliminary planning for the stadium.
