Four finalists vying to become Gilbert’s first in-house town attorney will compete for the position in a two-day process in early April that will include a public forum and three interview panels.
The candidates will have the opportunity to make public presentations in which they will explain how they would structure the town’s new legal department, human resources analyst Mark Boynton said.
The selection process includes second interviews if necessary, background investigations and reference checks, according to Boynton.
Gilbert received 38 applications for the position, from which the following finalists were chosen:
Colleen Auer, a private-practice attorney and former deputy town attorney for Prescott Valley.
Nicholas DiPiazza, currently the chief deputy city attorney for Glendale.
Joseph Padilla, Scottsdale’s senior assistant city attorney.
Michael Hamblin, assistant chief counsel for Phoenix.
