A former Mohave County public works employee is appealing a decision to get his job back after being fired by the county in 2012.
Jerry Sides unsuccessfully ran for supervisor for District 1 in the 2012 Republican primary against incumbent Sup. Gary Watson. He filed his appeal Monday before Presiding Superior Court Judge Chuck Gurtler in Bullhead City. The hearing is expected to be held within 30 days. The civil complaint is against the county’s public works department.
Sides worked as a facilities maintenance worker at the public works department for 26 years before he was dismissed in July 2012. A county merit commission denied his appeal in January. He later called the merit commission a “kangaroo court,” claiming there was a hidden set of merit commission procedures that superseded the merit rules.
