Maricopa County’s selection process for Supervisor Max Wilson’s successor is no selection process at all.
Whoever gets the seat will need just three votes to win — a majority of the four board members who make the choice. The Arizona Republic has editorialized on the behind-closed-doors process to replace the West Valley supervisor.
So here’s a small ray of sunlight: Read the ”letters of interest” and, in most cases, resumes of the 14 applicants (so far) for the supervisor job. All the applicants provided the information to the Maricopa County clerk. 12 News obtained the documents in a public records request:
Peoria Council member Ronald Aames
Former legislator Robert Blendu
Former schools chief Sandra Dowling
Egg company co-owner Clint Hickman
Former Peoria Mayor John Keegan
Former legislator Jean McGrath
Goodyear Vice Mayor Joanne Osborne
